Hello from Cedar Weekly Emails

Hello from Cedar

The children have all settled back brilliantly after the half-term break.  It has been lovely to welcome them back; there has been a real buzz of learning across the school this week.

Talking of learning, on Monday your child's class team will send out  'Our Learning Newsletter' for your child's class. This letter explains the key themes which your child is learning about this half-term and also suggests some possible activities which you might want to do at home to support your child's learning.  In addition the letter includes helpful information/reminders, etc. for the class.

We really appreciated your positive feedback about the letters from last half-term and hope that you will find the latest letters equally helpful.

Please just note that a couple of teachers have not been well this week, so, if your letter ends up being issued a little later into next week, it is only because of this.  Unfortunately seasonal bugs are high at the moment but hopefully everyone will recover from these very soon.

Still on the subject of learning I have a message below from Amanda Thorne, our Computing Leader in school, about an exciting learning workshop which we have coming up for parents/carers soon:

On Tuesday 19th March between 9.30 and 10.30, we shall be hosting an informal Computing and Technology learning workshop here in school. There will be an opportunity for you to see the Computing Assessment document used by many of our learners, browse through various resources and of course share some refreshments together.

If you would like more information about the workshop, please do contact Amanda at amandathorne@cedarschool.co.uk

If you would like to attend the workshop please let Karen know at karencollins@cedarschool.co.uk

Totally changing theme ... I am sorry that several of you found yourselves in very long queues both on Wednesday afternoon and yesterday due to diversions after the tragic accident on the M27.  I know that our collective heart goes out to those involved in this accident and I thank the children whose transport routes took a lot longer than normal yesterday for being so mature and understanding about this.

Very soon we will be issuing dates for Sports Days and Year 11 Leavers' events (watch this space!) but, for today, I close with a reminder of key term dates for the rest of this school year:

Thursday 28th March 2024 Break Up for Easter Holiday
Monday 15th April 2024 School Returns
Monday 6th May 2024 Bank Holiday (school closed)
Friday 24th May 2024 Break Up for Half-Term Holiday
Monday 3rd June 2024 School Returns
Friday 19th July 2024 Break Up for Summer Holiday

We have no further staff INSET Days this school year.

Once again, thank you for this week!  We wish you all a peaceful weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday!

Warm best wishes,
Neil, Cesia and the whole Cedar team
