Hello from Cedar Weekly Emails
Hello from Cedar
It has been wonderful to welcome so many of you into school for different events this week. Thank you for your support and encouragement for everything that happens here.
I know how many of the children enjoyed spending time with the ‘Cedar Bikers’ last weekend! Furthermore our Christmas Extravaganza on Tuesday was packed out! My thanks to everybody who made these special Christmas celebrations for our children possible!
Due to everybody's generosity, a total of £563.02 was raised by the amazing bikers with an additional £809.03 raised at the Extravaganza. THANK YOU!
Special thanks to the Southampton West Rotary Club for a donation of £300 and to Mr. Fairchild (from Rotary) for a donation of £100, which allowed for a gift to be given to every child.
My thanks, also, to our Friends Committee for organising both events, to everyone who ran stalls on Tuesday, to all of you for supporting us and to our wonderful children for making these events so special.
A big shout goes out to Sue Carter and Mel Mills who created Santa's grotto, making an amazing magical room where the children could meet 'the man himself.
Thank you, as well, to the team from St. John's Church in Rownhams for leading a puppet show which tells the Christmas Story this morning. It is so important for children to learn about the meaning of Christmas and to understand why it is such an important religious festival for Christians.
Next week on Tuesday we will enjoy our school Christmas Dinner thanks to Nicky and Sarah in our school kitchen! Christmas jumpers can be worn. Then, next Friday, everyone is again invited to wear a Christmas jumper (the jumper is totally optional on both occasions; please do not buy one especially).
Next week will be the last week of term. We will close for the Christmas Holiday a week today on Friday 15th December. The children will return, after their break, on Thursday 4th January 2024.
Next week we will, sadly, be saying 'goodbye and good luck' to Hannah OIiver who has worked at Cedar for several years as an SSA and also as one of our ELSAs who supports children's wellbeing and emotional health. Hannah has made such a positive difference for so many youngsters at Cedar. Thank you, Hannah; we are really going to miss you. We are very proud of Hannah who has been appointed as an Educational Mental Health Practitioner working for CAMHS. We know that you will join us in wishing Hannah every success in her new role.
I appreciate that this is an especially busy time of year for everybody so I wish you all a calm and restful weekend.
See you all on Monday for the final week of term!
Take care, Neil, Cesia and the whole Cedar team
